State of commercial Quantum technology. Are we in the quantum era yet?

February 26, 2025 , 13:00 14:00

Speaker: Dr Piotr Biskupski (IBM)

Abstract:
Quantum computing is a rapidly advancing field that leverages the principles of superposition and entanglement to perform computations that are infeasible for classical computers. This seminar provides an in-depth analysis of the state of commercial quantum computing technology, focusing on leading vendors and their quantum systems. A particular emphasis will be placed on IBM’s quantum computing ecosystem, including its cloud-based quantum computing services and advancements in quantum hardware. Furthermore, the seminar will explore quantum-safe cryptographic technologies and industry roadmaps addressing security challenges in the post-quantum era. By examining current capabilities, limitations, and future developments, this lecture aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the commercialization of quantum computing and its implications across industries such as cryptography, optimization, and artificial intelligence. Attendees will gain insights into the challenges of scaling quantum technologies and the potential breakthroughs that could shape the future of computing.
