Quantum physicists around the world have particularly celebrated this year Nobel Prize in Physics, which was awarded to Alain Aspect, John Clauser, and Anton Zeilinger for “their experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science“. I will explain the background, importance, and impact of Bell inequalities and these pioneering experiments not only on quantum technologies and quantum information, but also on our physical worldview.
